| General information | In the 1871 census William is at home in Brill. By 1881 they are both living in Earlestown. In 1874 their son James White is born in Openshaw, Manchester and dies in 1876 in Newton-in-Makerfield. In 1891 Annie says she is from Yorkshire, in 1901 she is from Rockley, in 1911 Annie says she is from Bothamsal, Yorkshire. The only Bothamsal is near Retford, Notts, close to Rockley. "Slaters Directory of Manchester & Salford" 1877-78 has a William Shorrocks listed at Low Moor Iron Works, Bradford. This would fit with the birth of James White in 1874 in Bradford but only if the information was collected in 1876 for publication in 1877. |
